- We have kept the increase in Council Tax below the rate of inflation for three consecutive years. This year’s increase of 2.8% is less than the increase set by most other Councils.
- We have invested an extra £500,000 in Adult Care. Our “Care Trust Plus” is the first in the country and it is attracting national praise and attention. It will create a joined up service which will tackle health issues throughout the area.
- We continue to make education our priority. We are committed to the creation of a University, and also to rebuild and remodel our secondary schools We also have a programme to regenerate our Primary Schools, and to build new Childrens’ centres throughout the area.
- We are modernising our Police Force and putting more Police onto the streets, and we have increased the number of Police Community Support Officers patrolling our streets to 82. We are investing heavily in more C.C.T.V., and continuing to improve our partnership working with the Police, Shoreline HP, and others to reduce the amount of crime and antisocial behaviour in the area.
- We are determined to regenerate Freeman Street and the derelict Fish Dock area.
- We have allocated £1 million this year for improvements to our public toilets.
- We are determined to maintain weekly refuse collections despite mounting pressure from the Government.
- We have dealt with unsightly boarded up empty properties, and will continue to do so, by using Compulsory Purchase Orders where they are necessary.
- We are maintaining our commitment to providing a clean, green and safe environment.
- We pledge to provide more efficient services and affordable Council Taxes.
