HE NEEDS YOU - TO SHARE YOUR VIEWS

2881358.jpgGrimsby’s top cop Chief Supt David Hilditch wants to hear what you have got to say on crime in the area - and how it can be tackled.

As reported, he recently took over as the divisional commander for North East Lincolnshire. And now he wants you to tell him your priorities.

From tomorrow and for four days, the Telegraph will be printing a question he wants to ask the people of North East Lincolnshire.

Send your views to the Telegraph and they will pass them to him at the end of the week.

Chief Supt Hilditch said: “I want to challenge people to think what they can do to improve our community in all respects, not just crime reduction. “If we look out for one another, work together, look after our children, improve educational attainment and find jobs for local people when they leave school, there will, in turn, be a reduction in crime. I have no doubt about that.

”It is not about moaning from the sidelines, but thinking what can we do to help.” On each of the next four days, we will set a different question for you to answer - and there will be some thoughts from some well-known faces, too. A recent study by anti-social behaviour adviser Louise Casey, called Engaging Communities in Fighting Crime, found that 55 per cent of the public feel that crime is the most important issue facing Britain today. But 75 per cent of people said that they were prepared to stand up and take a role in tackling crime. Inspired by that, Chief Supt Hilditch wants us all to work together to tackle the problems that we face in the area. He said: “This is our community. Between us, we all own it and it is what we do together that matters. “I think in the 1960s and 1970s there was a tendency to put problems to the professionals, but it is when we work together as a community that we tackle the underlying causes of crime. “That will make the area a safer, more prosperous and enjoyable place to live and work in.” Grimsby’s top cop Chief Supt David Hilditch wants to hear what you have got to say on crime in the area - and how it can be tackled.
