Labour has failed to keep young people in work
“Ministers should create hundreds of thousands of work experience and internship placements so that young people get access to the workplace,” said Steve Webb, the Liberal Democrat Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary.
Commenting on OECD unemployment figures which show the UK has the highest youth unemployment in Europe, Steve Webb said:
“These figures expose Labour’s complete failure to keep young people in work.
“Instead of wasting money on another month of the pointless VAT cut the cash should be spent on creating opportunities to help young people through the recession.
“Ministers should create hundreds of thousands of work experience and internship placements so that young people get access to the workplace during the recession and improve their skills.”
