FREE EVENTS FOR CARERS IN NORTH EAST LINCOLNSHIRE TO SUPPORT NATIONAL CARERS RIGHTS DAY – DECEMBER 4th

North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus (CTP), North East Lincolnshire Council and North East Lincolnshire Carers Centre (part of the George Hardwick Foundation) are working in partnership to organise several events for carers in support of National Carers Rights Day.

The theme of National Carers’ Rights Day (December 4) this year is ‘Caring for your income and pension’ and aims to increase uptake of benefits available to carers and their families, ensure that carers access their rights under relevant legislation and raise awareness of the needs of carers. The campaign will help individuals recognise themselves as carers and ensure that carers are aware of and take up their right to request flexible working.

Barbara Marshallsay, associate director for integrated commissioning at the CTP said: “National and local carers events like these help to recognise the valuable role carers play both to the person they care for and the community as a whole.

“I would encourage all local carers to come along to one of these free events and would particularly encourage any carers in the community who have not come forward to identify themselves as a carer and take advantage of the support and services available to them.”
