Your chance to challenge the criminal justice system in N E Lincs
A second series of meetings has been organised to allow members of the public the chance to gain an insight into the criminal justice system.
The meetings follow on from the success of last year’s Third Sector Forum, Safer and Stronger Communities Working Group project.
The project opened up the criminal justice system to the public to allow them to challenge decisions and improve their understanding.
At the meetings people are able to discuss the issues that matter to them and put the system under scrutiny.
The sessions are open to everyone and will be attended by Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership members from North East Lincolnshire Council’s safer communities team and Humberside Police.
The meetings are set up in an informal way. Instead of a series of presentations being offered, a round table, no-holds-barred approach is used with no pre-set plan or agenda.
During last year’s meetings, the crown and community prosecutors, magistrates, police, prison service, probation, courts, and the media were all challenged by members of the public, town councillors, forum chairs and criminology students.
The next series of meetings will start on September 9, at Grimsby Town Hall at 6pm, with tea and coffee available from 5.30pm.
Taking part is free but please book with Marcus Czarnecki, neighbourhood crime and justice co-ordinator, in advance by calling (01472) 324976 or emailing marcus.czarnecki@nelincs.gov.uk
