N E Lincs Cultural Roadshow sprints on to Willows Library

This February 17, Willows Library will become the next setting to host the council’s Cultural Roadshow as it continues its tour around North East Lincolnshire.

2012 is the year of the London Olympic Games and to celebrate this historic event North East Lincolnshire Council’s sports and arts development team in partnership with libraries have organised a ‘Cultural Roadshow’ of exciting activities.

The roadshow started at Waltham Library earlier this month, but will eventually tour each library throughout the borough. During its travels the roadshow will showcase a variety of sport, art, language and reminiscence taster sessions.

The sessions are open to everyone and include activates like Tai Chi, which is a great way to stay fit. Tai Chi is low impact and accessible, meaning that these sessions can be enjoyed by people of any age or ability.

In March there will also be a reminiscence session, where members of the community can look back at local life in the 1940′s and share their memories.

A full list of the sessions at Willows Library includes:

Willows Library sessions (running from February 21 to March 2)

Tuesday, February 21 2 to 3pm and 3 to 4pm Online Foreign Language Taster Session

Wednesday, February 22 2 to 3.30pm Tai Chi/Chair based taster

Wednesday, February 29 2 to 3.30pm Tai Chi/Chair based taster

Thursday, March 1 10am to 12 noon Arts and Crafts (including bunting design, card making and more.)

Friday, March 2 2.30 to 3.30pm Reminiscence session: Games, Hobbies and Pastimes

All sport and art sessions cost £1.50 and there is no need to book in advance. The reminiscence sessions are free and can be booked by contacting the library service on (01472) 323628. The language sessions are also free and can be booked by contacting (01472) 323613.

Over the next five months in the lead up to the Olympic Games activities like these will be appearing at all ten of the council’s libraries. For more information about these and up coming events contact Lucy Johnston on (01472) 323346 or Derek O’Connell on (01472) 323628.
